Students,

When you start back in your classes on Tuesday, you'll be in an intense part of the semester. For those of you who are graduating, even more so.  Some of you could go either way academically. See your teacher. We want you to succeed. If there is a way, we will help you.

Monday is a prayer emphasis day. I encourage you to find a couple of  fellow-students and stop in the President's office for a time of prayer.

PIU Days was a great weekend. Thanks for letting Kathy and me be a part. (Not apart. We don't like that. We enjoy being together, but "a part," as in a participant. That stuff Dot Houde teaches you is important.)  It was fun!

You can find a bunch more pictures on Facebook, and here. Thanks Gary and Hartmut.

A while back the students in PHIL 200 worked on a project, How to remember what I need to remember so that I can think about what I need to think about. There is nothing really new here, but it is very good stuff. Over the next few weeks, I'll include some of the classes ideas. They might help you keep your eye on the ball.

  • Some of you live where electronic devices don't always work.
My personal plan is to get a calendar notebook for myself because where I come from we do not have electricity. So to remember what I need to remember I should have a calendar notebook and not only depend on computer and cell phone because it cannot work all the time. I should also not depended on someone to remind me because that someone may forget to remind me. So I believe it is a good plan to own a calendar book to help me remember what I need to remember.

  • Your plan doesn't need your plan doesn't need to be just one thing.
  1.   I have marked my Calendar
  2.   I have my schedule on my door so I can remember what I need to do for the day
  3. I also set my alarm in my phone to remind me my time for homework.
  • Another student picked up on #3 above, Since I see so manycell phones around, I'll let that student repeat it.
    Set an alarm
in your phone, or on your laptop (since you’re always on your phone) to remind you of upcoming events, or important meetings.
Make sure you have a plan to remember key deadlines, tests,due-dates, etc.
Here's part of my plan. If you see me wandering around like I'm lost, help me get to where I need to be next. :)

Not that you need any encouragement to wander the web, but here are a couple of sites with good information or just fun:
Please send me a note, hmerrell@piu.edu, so I know this is getting to you, and so I know that I have the best email for you.
People are investing a lot to make it possible for you to study.

Make the most of it.
